Laura joined craftscotland in September 2009. A writer and online marketing expert with over four years of professional experience in the online sector, Laura was keen to join the team and face the challenge of revitalising and promoting the craftscotland site. Before craftscotland, Laura worked with a range of clients on varying sites, from the Scottish Government and SQA to a Glasgow theatre troupe. Laura has a keen interest in the craft sector, particularly in wearables and reconditioned vintage pieces. She knits and makes her own clothing and home-craft from textiles, and for several years worked in the City of Edinburgh Museums and Galleries, where craft often played a vital role. She started at craftscotland fresh from a summer of writing both a children’s novel and freelance web content, and working at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. As Online Marketing Officer for craftscotland Laura promotes craft makers, outlets, events, news and opportunities to the public. She creates (almost) all copy for the craftscotland website, social networks and email newsletters, manages the craftscotland directory of makers and outlets, runs analytical reports, writes code, takes photographs, and drinks peppermint tea. |
