| Description | The Gin Palace endeavours to celebrate the diverse and curious nature of design. We believe that good design creates objects of desire that must serve a purpose; in short good design is functional art. An innovative and forward thinking design collective based in Glasgow, The Gin Palace aims to showcase and sell the work of talented, cutting edge designers from or with a connection to Scotland. On 28th November 2009 The Gin Palace curated and hosted a hugely successful pop-up design exhibition in Miller Street in Glasgow, showcasing and selling the work of 30 emerging and established designers. Leading up to opening a permanent space, we will host a series of pop-up design exhibitions throughout 2010. Plans for the second pop-up design event curated by The Gin Palace called ‘Details to Follow’, are now underway. This event will take place in Glasgow over a weekend in April 2010, and we are now calling out for submissions from designers for the chance to showcase and sell their work with us. If you are a designer, working in any discipline, and you would like to be considered to be a part of The Gin Palace please send a designers statement along with up to five images of your work to theginpalace@hotmail.co.uk before the 19th February 2010. In order to see the range of design work we showcased in Miller Street in November 2009, and for photos from our first event please have a look at our website www.theginpalacecollective.co.uk and our blog www.theginpalacecollective.blogspot.com We look forward to hearing from you, Leah, Ruth & Greg |
