Promote your crafts business on the big screen
craftscotland plans to get Scottish craft on TV. The right TV series or programme could help re-position crafts, instill positive perceptions and show Scotland's world-class makers to the world. With this in mind, we'd like to invite you to take part in The Big Picture Film Competition, setup by Tayscreen Scotland. Here is the brief:
*Promote Scotland
*Use cinema, TV and/or mobile phones
*Embody 'innovation'
*Feature sustainable tourism, lifestyles and internationalism
*High-impact
*Energetic
*Show the innovative ways the crafts sector promotes, manages and markets their businesses
*Project the future of craft tourism
We are looking for films or film clips which might show:
*Your practise
*Your workspace
*Rural or urban locations
*An international exhibition
*Show how you work with or use the skills/ideas of other cultures
*Cover international commissions or travel
*Tell the story of an interesting customer
*or show your skills and how you live your life
craftscotland will piece together the best clips (or submit the best film), add opening and closing credits, burn to DVD in the required formats and supply to the Big Picture Film Competition. The finished article will present a fresh take on old, young, urban, rural, indigenous, contemporary and hopefully include some real characters!
What you can win:
A committee of delegates will select four films to be screened at the Tourism Innovation Day at Perth Concert Hall . The winning entry of the four will be promoted by the Tourism Innovation Group and by Tayscreen to a global network of contacts in advertising production. The film will also be used as the Tourism Innovation Group's new promotional film. Expose your talent as a film-maker. Help show Scotland's world-class makers to the world.
craftscotland may also use the entry as a pilot to show film production companies, with a view to them commissioning the concept for TV. You will also (of course) get pride of place in the credits.
How to take part;
Submit complete films (no longer than 3 minutes - 180 seconds) including opening and closing credits, or film footage/clips of up to 3 minutes in length. Supply as Mini-DV or QuickTime files.
Deadline: 5pm, 10 March 2006
Entries to be sent to:
Big Picture Competition, craftscotland,
91 Hanover Street, Edinburgh, EH2 1DJ
