green: design-ED
Conference
Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October
“green” is an exploratory exhibition by 11 members of design-ED, a group of Scottish Applied Artists working in glass, ceramic, metalwork, paper and textile. The theme encompasses the recycling of materials as well as ideas, contexts and techniques, and many of the artists have expanded their practice by experimenting with each others’ disciplines and by working in collaboration. The exhibition (29 September – 11 November) is supported by a 48 page illustrated publication (£9.95) and a documentary DVD (£15.00 with publication).
The two day conference aims to provide a broader insight into the use of recycled materials in contemporary and historic Applied Art, the challenges and rewards of establishing and working within an artists’ collective and how to brainstorm ideas for successful, creative collaborations. Practical workshops will cover the construction of artwork within the context of social/cultural history.
Delegates may book for both days by completing and returning the form overleaf, with their remittance, by Saturday 21 October. Download full details and booking form below.
