Description

Straws in the Wind: From craftsman’s bench to camera lens - Nigel Bridges at The Flat Cat Gallery, Lauder from 17 May to mid July showcases photographs by furniture maker Nigel Bridges of the hedgerows of Magdalenehall Farm near St Boswells where he’s had a workshop for almost twenty years.

The camera wasn’t just any old camera or even the latest in digital technology.  It was a Hasselblad, inherited from his father David who was a talented amateur photographer. The Hasselblad is the Rolls Royce of cameras and similar to one famously used by the great American landscape photographer Ansel Adams.

He has produced a dozen large photographs of flowers on stretched cotton canvas to show at The Flat Cat alongside a selection of furniture.
