“East Weaves West: Basketry from Japan and Britain” is the first exhibition in Britain to present such a comprehensive range of Japanese basketry by contemporary makers and the first to juxtapose it with work from the UK providing a stimulating insight into recent developments on opposite sides of the world. Takeo Tanabe and Lee Dalby, makers from Japan and Britain, have both been commissioned to create installations within the Collins Gallery at the beginning of the exhibition.
It is on at the National Vlechtmuseum, Noordwolde from 20 May to 28 August 2008. |
