A new website – www.craftayrshire.org – has been launched to support the contemporary craft sector in Ayrshire and Arran. This new website creates an opportunity for makers in the region to showcase their work and to reach new audiences.
It is also a communication resource with news, opportunities and events updated on a regular basis. For example, people visiting Ayrshire will be able to view the ‘Appointment Studios’ pages and find out about makers who are able to accommodate visitors to their workshops, and discover more about the places of cultural interest in the region.
The website features a database of makers who reside in Ayrshire and Arran with an image of their work. This database is administered by the craftscotland website through a live data stream. This is the first Scottish region to link to craftscotland and take advantage of this resource, which was developed to meet the demand by makers in Scotland for a national web presence to promote and support Scottish craft.
If you are a maker or gallery and would like to be listed on the new website then submit your details on this site. Your information will automatically be forwarded to www.craftayrshire.org Both services are completely free of charge and you can add a link directly to your own web site if you have one.
The new Ayrshire and Arran website, led by Develop Craft Ayrshire (DCA), is one of a series of innovative projects aimed at supporting makers and developing audiences in the region. DCA is supported by the Scottish Arts Council, North, East and South Ayrshire Councils, Argyll and the Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.
