Christmas exhibitions and special events selling Scottish craft are happening across Scotland throughout December making it easy to find attractive and original Christmas gifts for friends and family.
Special collections have been put together by galleries and shops featuring pieces perfect for presents such as jewellery, ceramics, glass, textiles and silver which would make unique Christmas gifts.
Velvet Boutique, a two day event featuring new and innovative young Scottish designers, will be taking place at St Stephen’s Church in Edinburgh on 3 and 4 December. There will be fashion and interior accessories for sale including jewellery, knitwear, childrenswear, textiles and designer cards.
At the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh the Christmas Exhibition features Gallery Artists and Craftsmen as well as jewellery by Catherine Martin.
In Glasgow the Roger Billcliffe Gallery has a special Christmas Design Collection featuring over 80 of the leading UK and European studio designers. It includes knitted homeware by Libby Langford, ceramics by Katharine Morling, scarves by Eileen Goldschmidt and handbags by Melissa Simpson.
Stylish contemporary ceramics, glass, wood, jewellery, textiles, metal, furniture and handmade cards and paper can be found in Artisanat close to Perth City Centre.
At the Crawford Art Centre in St Andrews there is a focus on jewellery in different media as well as other gift ideas such as Suzanne Tweddle’s handmade glass beads and woollen accessories by Mootje House Designs in Shetland.
Alternatively, studio sales offer the chance to buy direct from the maker.
