Country Living Magazine Fair Scotland Exhibition Opportunity
05 January 2005

Applied Arts Scotland is inviting Scottish makers to apply to take part in a group stand at the Country Living Magazine Spring Fair Scotland being held at the Royal Highland Centre Edinburgh from 14 to 17 April 2005.

The Country Living Magazine Spring Fair , which features crafts, interiors, outdoor living, fashion, food and drink, was launched in London in 1992 and the first Scotland Fair was held last year.

The event attracted almost 11,000 visitors over three days, 85% of which were female.  Fifty one per cent of the visitors were aged between 35 and 54 with 38% over 55 years old.  Ninety per cent of the visitors expressed an interest in crafts and the average spend was £176.

The AAS stand will present work by 22 makers from a variety of disciplines and the opportunity is open to any maker in Scotland.   The exhibiting makers will be chosen by a selection committee which will not include any AAS board members.

The criteria for selection will include saleability and aesthetics as the key objective of the stand is to sell work.  Applicants will be required to submit a form along with six images on CD which give a good representation of the work they would be selling.

Participating makers will not be required to be on the stand as the staffing will be organised by AAS.  The participation fee of £395 includes staffing, insurance, display, packaging at point of sale, promotion, and inclusion in a colour booklet which will be given out at the stand.

Further details and an application forms can be downloaded in Opportunities and Training or are available from Applied Arts Scotland, School of Design and Applied Arts, Hunter Building, Lauriston Place, Edinburgh EH3 9DF.  tel: 0131 221 6143 or e-mail office@appliedartsscotland.org.uk

The deadline for applications is 31 January 2005.

The initiative is being supported by the Scottish Arts Council.
