Final Chance to Catch Orgold Exhibition
22 January 2005

The Orgold jewellery exhibition and an exhibition of pottery by Martin McWilliam can be seen at the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh until 2 February 2005.

Orgold is a touring exhibition of contemporary European goldsmithing curated by English jeweller Jacqueline Mina.  As well as work by Jacqueline it  includes pieces by Cathy Chotard from France, Castello Hansen from Sweden, Elisabeth Holder from German and Annamaria Zanella from Italy.  Scotland is represented by Andrew Lamb and Susan Cross.

Andrew, whose work was used to promote the Goldsmiths’ Fair last year, also had his work used on one of a selection of posters which advertised Collect held at the V&A earlier this month.  Susan Cross talked about her work at the same event.

Martin McWilliam established his own workshop in North Germany in 1983 and his trompe l’oeil vessels were first shown at the Scottish Gallery a few years ago.  Since then he has continued to develop a highly individual voice with his woodfired slabbed stoneware forms.  From simple teabowls to elaborate still life compositions, he invites the viewer into a complex architectural space.

The exhibition is taking place at the Scottish Gallery, 16 Dundas Street, Edinburgh EH3 6HZ tel: 0131 558 1200 and is on until 2 February 2005.  Opening hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.
