London Gallery Welcomes Back Edinburgh Jewellers
03 May 2005

Edinburgh Comes to Clerkenwell – 10 Years On, an exhibition featuring work by 22 jewellers associated with Edinburgh College of Art, has opened at the Lesley Craze gallery in London.

The gallery originally held the exhibition `Edinburgh Comes to Islington' in October 1995, featuring work by eight jewellers associated with Edinburgh College of Art.   To mark 10 years since this first show, this new exhibition includes work by over twice as many jewellers, including all the original participants, reflecting the increasing prominence and reputation of the college.

“The thing that pleases me is that they are all developing their work and that the exhibitors of 10 years ago are still going strong” says Dorothy Hogg, professor and course leader of the department of jewellery and silversmithing at Edinburgh College of Art, who curated the exhibition.

The participating designers are a diverse mix of established names such as Susan Cross, Janet Perry, Joanne Thompson, Katy Hackney and Anne Little, alongside emerging young talents, such as Andrew Lamb, Grace Girvan, Naoko Yoshizawa and Alison Macleod.

The exhibition aims to reflect the quality and individuality that has come to be regarded as the Edinburgh approach and features work by Susan Cross, Anna Gordon, Anne Little, Emma Gale, Grainne Morton, Andrew Lamb, Joanne Thompson, Kaz Robertson, Katy Hackney, Angela O'Kelly, Grace Girvan, Naoko Yoshizawa, Jenny Deans, Dorothy Hogg, Janet Perry, Susan Kerr, Donna Barry, Amy Chan, Yoshiko Nishina, Beth Legg, Alison Macleod and Carla Edwards.
