Wasps Studios across Scotland are opening their doors this weekend – 8 and 9 October 2005 – and inviting everyone to come and meet the artists and buy their work.
The studios, located in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, Irvine, Selkirk, Nairn, Alloa and Shetland, are home to a wide variety of artists and makers.
In Edinburgh in the Patriothall Studios there is the chance to meet ceramicists Simon Ward and Lorna Fraser, jeweller Danielle Wilson, tapestry and willow artist, Anna King, textile artist Fiona Hutchison and stonework artist Shelagh Atkinson. Textile artist Lorna Brown and stone and glass artist Jane Raven are based at the Dalry Studios.
Over on the West of Scotland, at the WASPS Factory in Glasgow you will find ceramicists David Gray, Alison Gray, Angela Hughes, Noel McKenna and George Melville, jeweller Laura Murray, glass artists Zoe Gadsby and Stephen Richard and textile artist Morag MacPherson. In the Courtyard Studios in Irvine are jewellers Jane Elliot and Suilven Plazalska.
In the Meadow Mill Studios in Dundee you can see ceramicist Catherine Holtet, jewellers Julie Gardner, Ruth Gordon and Krystyna Nowicka,and textiles by Frances Gow and Louise Kirby.
