A second solo show of new work by Scottish jeweller Scottish Andrew Lamb has opened at the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh.
Twenty seven year old Andrew, a graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, has won several UK and international awards, including a Dewar Arts Award from the Scottish Arts Council which enabled him to complete an MA at the Royal College of London. He was first introduced to wirework when he worked with silversmith Adrian Hope.
His new collection explores the art of optical illusion through a playful use of precious metals. In his work he uses light and shade to create volume and to trick the eye so it becomes difficult to tell if a piece is made of gold or silver. He can use 200 pieces of wire, each soldered individually, to create his organic forms.
The exhibition is on at the Scottish Gallery, 16 Dundas Street, Edinburgh EH3 6HZ from 3 to 24 December 2005. Open Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.
