Award winning jewellers Marianne Anderson and Georgia Wiseman are just two of the Scottish designers taking part in Dazzle Glasgow, the contemporary jewellery selling exhibition in May.
The event, which opens on 7 May, is an opportunity to see and buy work by over 50 leading designers and new graduates from across the UK and among those are many of Scotland’s most talented designers.
Taking part for the first time is Marianne Anderson, a graduate of Glasgow School of Art, who explores patterns and motifs in her work focusing on the beauty, meaning and importance of ornament. She was selected to show her work at the international jewellery exhibition Schmuck 2005.
Georgia Wiseman graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2003 and has recently won two awards for her work from the Goldsmiths’ Company in London. She creates delicate three dimensional structures using rapid prototyping technology. These are then translated into lightweight earrings, necklaces and sculptural rings, some holding free moving elements captured inside such as aquamarines, garnets and gold granules.
Other Scottish jewellers taking part are Julie Allison, Donna Barry, Nicola Becci, Lilian Busch, Amy Chan, Carla Edwards, Shona Fidgett, Grace Girvan, Hannah Louise Lamb, Gilly Langton, Alison Macleod, Joanne Thompson and Naoko Yoshizawa.
Dazzle takes place at the Merchant Square, 71-73 Albion Street, Merchant City, Glasgow G1 1RB tel: 0141 552 5906 from 7 to 21 May 2006. Opening hours Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sunday 11am to 5pm. Admission free.
