Light in the North, an exhibition showing a selection of work from North Lands Creative Glass permanent collection, has opened in Wick.
The exhibition, which features work by thirty one internationally acclaimed glass artists, will also visit Inverness and Kingussie during Highland 2007.
The artists in the exhibition have led master classes, held artistic residencies, or studied at the centre, which is now recognised across the world as one of the leading centres of excellence for contemporary glass.
The exhibition includes work by Bertil Vallien, Joel Philip Myers, Kenneth Cantillon Howell, Zora Palova, Katherine Coleman, Phil Atrill, Amber Hiscott, Paul Stankard, Kristie Rae,Ted Sawyer, Karl Harron, Bernard Dejonghe, Marianne Buus, Bibi Smit, Shital Pattani, Nick Wirdnam, Marea Timoko, Irene Frolic, Scott Benefield, Denis Mann, Loretta Lowman, Lotte Thorsoe, Elizabeth Swinburne, Gabie Kienle, Naoko Sato, Patricia Niemann, Gareth Noel Williams, Kate Williams, Adrienne McStay, Luisa Restrepo and Angela Jarman.
The influence of the magical light, land and seascapes of Caithness can be seen in many of the works in the show.
Light in the North is open at the St Fergus Gallery in Wick from 28 April to 26 May 2007. It will then visit the Iona Gallery in Kingussie from 28 August to 25 September 2007 followed by Inverness Museum and Art Gallery from 29 September to 3 November 2007.
