Norma Starszakowna Textiles Exhibition Opens
23 March 2008

A major installation of new works by textile artist Norma Starszakowna is currently on show in Edinburgh alongside a solo exhibition by silversmith Adrian Hope.

The textiles in this exhibition incorporate Norma’s unique use of heat-reactive pigments, glazes, patinations and experimental print processes with recent investigations of the digitally printed image.  The themes draw on the issues of identity and dislocation using symbols, marks and signage etched on urban walls and landscapes to express culture and ideology.

Her experimental textiles have been exhibited worldwide and are held in numerous collections including the V& A Museum in London and the Scottish Parliament.

The solo exhibition by silversmith Adrian Hope comprises three new groups of work exploring the themes of positive and negative.

Norma Starszakowna: writings on the wall and new work by Adrian Hope is on at the Scottish Gallery, 16 Dundas Street, Edinburgh from 8 March to 5 April 2008.   Admission free.
