| May Spring Fling in Dumfries & Galloway | |
| 11 May 2009 Spring Fling 2009, Scotland’s premiere annual arts and crafts open studios event, takes place throughout Dumfries and Galloway from 23 to 25 May 2009. Now in its seventh year, this year’s event will see nearly 80 participants across open their doors to the public. Buy direct from an artist, watch your favourite maker at work, get stuck in on a workshop or hop from studio to studio through some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland. The Spring Fling brochure and website provide suggested itineraries with colour-coded trails and details of all the artists taking part. The brochure can also be downloaded from the site. There are three bus tours for people who would rather not drive and prefer to experience the surprise of not knowing which studios they are visiting. One of the ceramicists taking part is Ruth Elizabeth Jones, who is based in Moniave in Thornhill. She has a range of hand-thrown forms, stoneware and ammonites, which are sculptural pieces created as a response to the spiral form. Spring Fling 2009 takes place from 23 to 25 May 2009, find out more at www.spring-fling.co.uk
