Misun Won is inspired by the Korean traditional wrapping cloth ‘Jogakbo’ and its scientific interpretation with the fractal geometry theory.
Misun started her career as a jeweller in 1998 in South Korea, her country of birth. She undertook a Masters at Edinburgh College of Art and began working there as an artist in residence.
She developed jewellery designed from her own experience of relocating ‘home’ and the organic relationship between human beings and culture. She views her jewellery as a vehicle that conveys her observations of the similarities and differences between Scottish and Korean cultures.
Misun has exhibited throughout Europe including Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway and Spain. Her jewellery was presented at Collect in 2010 and 2011 by Craft Scotland, and at SOFA Chicago and New York by U.S. gallery Ornamentum. She has also participated in Inhorgenta in Munich in 2009, 2013 and 2014.
