craftscotland Annual General Meeting

Those listed on the craftscotland maker and venue directory on www.craftscotland.org were recently sent a letter about electing board members. The letter raised some questions, and we have published the answers to the most frequent ones below:

Why did I get a Board nomination form and invite to the craftscotland AGM/reception?

You completed a paper or online form before 18 July 2005 joining the craftscotland maker or venue directory on www.craftscotland.org

Can you tell me more about the craftscotland Board?

There are currently six craftscotland Board members. We are looking to expand the size of the Board. For more details visit The Board. Board members meet on a quarterly basis and govern craftscotland from a strategic level. craftscotland is looking for additional Board members with experience in promoting and developing the Scottish crafts sector nationally and internationally.

Can anyone stand for the Board?

You or your organisation must have registered for the craftscotland maker or venue directory by 18 July 2005. To find out if you or your organisation is included on the directory, visit Maker or Venue search. An example - a person working for a college could stand for Board membership if the college was listed in the venue directory.

Who can act as a supporter for a candidate?

Anyone listed in, or working for, a venue or maker included in the craftscotland directory. To find out if an organisation or individual is included in the directory, visit Maker or Venue search. An example - a person working for a college could be supported by any other person working in that college. Or, a maker registered on the maker directory could be supported by any other maker (or venue) registered on the directory.

Can I get anyone from my member organisation to nominate me?

Yes. Any person from a member organisation can nominate or be nominated for craftscotland Board positions.

How do I know if I am or someone else is a member of craftscotland?

To find out if an organisation or individual is included in the directory, visit Maker or Venue search.

When is the deadline to nominate or be nominated for craftscotland Board positions?

This Friday at noon - 19 August 2005. Completed forms must be returned to Electoral Reform Services Limited.

When is the deadline to RSVP for the free craftscotland reception and/or AGM?

1 September 2005. Email James Coutts on james at craftscotland dot org or call 0131 664 7557 x240.

Is there anything else happening after the craftscotland reception and AGM?

The Living Traditions conference. 28 - 29 September, also at the Birnam Institute. Stay in Birnam and enjoy both events. The Scottish Arts Council conference will explore what's happening in Scotland's indigenous crafts sector and what the future holds. Speakers include Dr Nancy Groce of the Smithsonian Institution, Valerie Pragnell of the Scottish Basketmakers Circle and Colin Adamson of Violinmakers Scotland. More information
