Castle Gallery, Inverness

The Castle Gallery in Inverness was opened two years ago by owner Denise Collins and is on two floors of an 18th century building.  The style is to create a domestic environment so it is easier to image how something would look in your own home.

The gallery always has craft on display – ceramics, glass, textiles, wood, metalwork and jewellery -  and is one of the few Scottish galleries to reach the standard to be on the Craft Council’s National List of Selected Galleries.

Any makers who feel their work is of a high enough standard to be shown at the Castle Gallery should send details through the post to the gallery. This should comprise of 10 images of recent work, together with titles, sizes, medium and artist's prices.  Transparencies, photographs or jpegs on a CD (for PC) are all acceptable.  Artists should also include a C.V. or artist's statement and a stamped addressed envelope for the return of the material. Artists should then wait for a reply from the gallery (which can take up to two months during busy periods) as impatiently harassing the gallery staff for an answer can offend and often results in a 'no thank you'.

Work by artists new to the gallery will generally be shown during the Mixed Summer Exhibition (July and August) and the Christmas Exhibition (November, December and January).  Those that are successful may then be offered the opportunity of a solo or two/three person show.

The Castle Gallery, 43 Castle Street, Inverness.  Opening hours Monday to Saturday 10am – 5 pm.  Closed on Bank Holidays and Sundays.  Tel: 01463 729512.  Web: http://www.castlegallery.co.uk/Castle_Gallery/Home/home.htm
