Scottish Craft at the Country Living Fair 2005

Work by Scottish designers from across the country will be for sale at the Country Living Fair taking place between 14 and 17 April at Ingliston in Edinburgh.

Applied Arts Scotland (stand H75B) is selling an selection of  work including handmade travel journals, metal log baskets, woven scarves and throws, embroidered cushions, handpainted dishes and tiles, precious and non precious jewellery and glass dishes are amongst the variety of craft for sale.

Over 20 designers are featured including ceramicists Alan Freestone, Elspeth Gardner and Veronica Newman, jeweller Elaine Clark, glass artist Inge Panneels, metal artist Meg Hamilton, textile designers Sara Keith, Margaret Wilson, Kirstie Hill, Mairi Brown, Roobedo, Tessuti and Pickone and bookbinder Laura West.

The Scottish Basketmakers Circle (stand G8) is selling over 250 pieces by 22 basketmakers including Jane Allan, Liz Balfour, Lise Bech, Susie Bishop, Joan Campbell, Georgie Crook, Catherine Davies, Lizzie Farey, Alison Fitzgerald, Julie Gurr, Diane Hannah, Anna King, Maggie Lindsay, Fiona Macdougall, Sam Murray, Anthea Naylor, Tim Palmer, Valerie Pragnell, Bryce Reynard, Alison Shaw, Pip Weaser and Jane Wilkinson.

There will be demonstrations throughout the day including basketweaving, birch bark weaving and chair caning.

Highland Arts (G81) is showing the work of Highland makers, as well as makers who are currently participating in the Highland crafts residencies and work from the 13 Hands exhibition. 

The Highland makers include ceramicists David Holmes, Penny Woodley and David Woodley, jewellers Lucy Woodley, Lindsey Bain and Astrid Shearer, glass artist Brodie Nairn, textile artists  Linda Soos, Kirstie Thornber, Rachel Skene, Karen Livingstone and Hilary de Vries, artist Caroline Dear and woodturner Angus Clyne.

Jeweller Gilly Langton and sculptor and basketmaker Tim Johnson, both of whom will soon be starting residencies at schools in the Highlands are also exhibiting, and there is work from the 13 Hands exhibition by jeweller Dot Sim, metal artist Rachel Higgins, textile artist Sally Greaves Lord and basketmaker Suzie Thompson.
