Craft Scotland and Welcome Home are looking for a talented maker to give visitors an insight into craft, design and their creative process.

Craft Scotland and Welcome Home have been hosting a series of one-day events, each focused on the practice of one maker based in Scotland. Within these events, visitors get a behind-the-scenes look at exciting pieces of design and the process behind them alongside demonstrations and workshops.

Welcome Home

For January 2017 we would like to select the participating maker from an open call to designers and makers.

This is a great opportunity for a maker to gain a unique kind of publicity. You stand to broaden the general awareness of your craft and your brand with the support of Craft Scotland and Welcome Home.

The Meet Your Maker event will be hosted by Welcome Home within the CCA on Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street. As part of the event, you will be asked to dress the shop window with your work. This window looks onto Sauchiehall Street, one of the biggest shopping streets in Glasgow, giving you excellent exposure. The CCA is a creative hub in the centre of Glasgow with lots going on in the building as well as Welcome Home meaning you will have an enviable amount of creative footfall.

The application process requires applicants to be registered with Craft Scotland and have a maker’s profile page. If you don’t already have one, making a profile is a short and easy process and very useful to showcase your work.

We would like to see examples of the work that you would like to use for the window display and hear your ideas for how you would approach the drop-in event which will take place on 11am to 6pm on Saturday 28 January 2017.

To apply, please download the full opportunity guidelines and read them thoroughly. You can then submit your online application by filling out our online form.

Please note that on the online form you will be required to submit:

  • Images of your work and images of you at work in your studio environment
  • An up-to-date CV

The deadline for receipt of applications is 5pm on Thursday 5 January 2017

Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

Should you have any questions regarding the programme or the application process, please direct them to Allyson Gee, Project Assistant at or on 0131 466 3870.
