Workshop spaces in a shared studio, with tools and equipment for; Jewellery, Ceramics, Print and Textiles will be available in the new year. Central Edinburgh- amazing building! You can apply for a space now and get involved.

This is a slightly strange opportunity, in that the space is still in development and won’t be available till January 2013. We are currently in a small space on Home St, where 9 makers share an open studio and run a program of evening and weekend courses for adults.

We have just signed a long lease on an amazing new space, a three-storey prespitarian church in the city centre and are turning this into a muli-disciplinary space for 30 makers, with a café, materials shop and a dedicated space for courses.

There will be three options of workshop space;

• The smallest space will be available for recent graduates or those who have set up in business within the last two years. These will consist of a large desk (6”x2”) with storage underneath and a separate locker, for £115 per month.

• The next space up is for more established makers, who don’t need a huge amount of storage, this will consist of their own ‘cubicle’ space, 6”x6” with a large desk (6”x2”), shelving and a large lockable cabinet, for £150 per month.

• The largest space will be 6”x8”, have a large desk, lockable cabinet and much more storage, for £195 per month.

The space will be roughly split into five areas; ceramics, print, textiles, dressmaking and jewellery (although we’re possibly open to other disciplines), everyone will have access to all of the equipment (after either proving knowledge or being inducted) and there will be big tables throughout for everyone to use. There is also the possibility of extra storage in the huge basement, at a small extra cost.

We will host two annual selling exhibitions and if your work is of a high enough standard and finish you will be welcome to show your work and will receive 60% from your sales.

There may also be the opportunity to teach adult classes, if you have the desire and people skills and we will be introducing an after school club and family workshops, so anyone with experience working with kids and families might have the opportunity of this work. There will also be a small number of jobs available in the café and shop and we will be looking for someone to help with marketing and the website and if this can come from within the workshops that would be great.

There is more info, photo's and an application form on our website.
