Craft Scotland and Emergents are thrilled to be returning to London Design Fair in September 2017 with our second presentation of the Scotland: Craft & Design pavilion. After debating the incredibly high calibre of submissions during the selection panel, we are excited to introduce you to the makers whose work will be showcased on the 2017 pavilion.

Our Scottish showcase at the American Craft Council’s Baltimore show has been hailed as a success, with sales of over £100,000 made during the three days we exhibited at the show.
Jurgita Galbraith has been nurturing the thought of opening an art gallery for some time. It wasn’t until she found a suitable venue – physical premises on Dundas Street – that she made the firm decision for the primary focus of her new gallery to be craft. She tells us what inspired her to set up Birch Tree Gallery, which will open on Friday 10 March in Edinburgh.

Collect: The International Art Fair for Contemporary Objects from the Crafts Council is back for its thirteenth edition. Returning to the Saatchi Gallery in London’s King’s Road, the fair is open from Thursday 2 to Monday 6 February 2017. We have rustled up a selection of the show’s Scottish contingent.

Over the past few months, The Living Memory Association (TheLMA) has been exploring craft and making through a craft reminiscence programme called Making Memories. To tie into this, we partnered with TheLMA to deliver a series of Meet Your Maker events in the form of drop-in craft workshops at The Little Shop of Memory in Edinburgh’s Ocean Terminal.
