For 2016, Craft Scotland’s Meet Your Maker project is part of the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design. Working in partnership with Scottish Jewellery Week, we brought craft and innovation - as a Meet Your Maker event - to the inaugural Dundee Design Festival.
Fife Contemporary Art & Craft's (FCA&C) Craft Pods was recently displayed in Woodmill High School, Dunfermline. FCA&C hosted a student-focused Meet Your Maker event to coincide with the exhibition: giving pupils and staff at Woodmill High School in Dunfermline the opportunity to meet Grant McCaig, the maker behind the work on display. The renowned silversmith discussed his training and career as well as his process.
Renowned silversmith and jeweller Grant McCaig will be visiting Woodmill High School, Dunfermline, on Friday 10 June 2016. The school pupils will get to meet the maker of this year's Craft Pods exhibition: a selection of Grant's silver spoons and iron ‘cucharas’ which are currently on tour around Fife.
Established in the 1990s, the Orkney Craft Trail guides visitors to many workshops around the islands, where you can meet craft makers at work.
Artist group Look Inside will be hosting a Meet Your Maker event during Aberdeen's inaugural Look Again Festival. Four makers from a variety of disciplines will give a rare, behind-the-scenes look at their craft work, teaching visitors about their inspiration, practices and profession.

The event, running parallel to their exhibition of works from the Incorporation of Goldsmiths' 'Silver of the Stars' collection and Millenium Collection for Bute House, will offer drop-in workshops by two of the exhibiting makers, Roger Millar and Marion E Kane, alongside two graduate jewellers, Jane Harrison and Merlin Planterose.

From Friday 24 to Monday 27 October the Haining will showcase 'Haining At Home'; an exhibition of some of the Scottish Border's finest applied arts. To coincide with the exhibition, the Haining will host a Meet Your Maker event offering demonstrations of screen printing, stone carving and wooden spoon making as part this impressive event.

Coinciding with the annual North East Open Studios (NEOS) event, Touched by Scotland will host a Meet Your Maker event on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September. The event will offer visitors a rare, behind the scenes look at the work of two makers: Susan Connon, a bookbinder, and Carol Meldrum, a textile artist.
