Fans of the hit US series Parks & Recreation will be familiar with Ron Swanson, the character with a distinctive moustache and a penchant for wood carving. What many people might not know is that the actor behind Ron, Nick Offerman, is a dedicated woodworker with his own workshop in California.
Nick Offerman featured as the cover story of the American Crafts December/January issue, discussing his woodworking practice and how he has been able to combine his love of both craft and acting.
Our Friday film comes from Fine Woodworking, who toured his workshop to find out why Nick is more at home in the shop then on the set. It's a fascinating place, home to vast machinery custom made to assist in the woodworking, an incredible 'wood closet' filled with enviable wooden slabs, and beautiful handmade pieces, including a canoe.

To support Movember 2012, Nick Offerman offers tips for men about to undertake 'the single manliest journey' of their life. Here's a bonus, non-craft, friday film: 'How to Grow a Moustache with Nick Offerman':
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world, the aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
