The Craft Scotland Programme 2017/18: Dates for your diary!

Scotland: Craft & Design pavilion

With 2017 around the corner, we are delighted to announce our programme for the forthcoming year that runs from April 2017 through until March 2018. The coming year sees our programme of activity continue to grow and build on the successes of 2016/2017. You’ll spot some new and exciting additions to add to your craft calendar alongside tried and tested favourites.

Events and Exhibitions

We will deliver our Summer Show for a fifth year in 2017. This year we will be introducing a workshop and events programme as part of the event. Following the success of the Scotland: Craft & Design pavilion at London Design Fair in 2016 we will be heading south again to showcase contemporary Scottish craft in 2017, working in partnership with Emergents.

Our partnership with Visual Arts Scotland will continue into 2017/18, and we will once again curate a media specific showcase of Scottish contemporary craft during their annual exhibition.

New to our programme for 2017/18

Next year Craft Scotland will have a presence during London Craft Week, which takes place Wednesday 3 to Sunday 7 May 2017. We will hold two Meet Your Maker events during the festival. Keep an eye out for announcements regarding the event early next year.

Collect 2018 is another new addition to our programme. Our last showcase at Collect was in 2010, and we are really looking forward to returning. In a similar model to our showcase at London Design Fair, we hope to work in partnership with Emergents to present a curated collection from Scotland.

Training and CPD Programme

We will continue our partnership with the Crafts Council, supporting the six places that make up the Scottish cohort on their Hothouse Programme.

The applications for Hothouse 7 are now closed, and the successful makers will be announced in the New Year. Applications for Hothouse 8, which starts early in 2018, will open in summer 2017. We will also have a number of further training opportunities presented in partnership with Scottish Enterprise.

Meet Your Maker

Our Meet Your Maker programme will run again next year, but we will be adapting the project. It is our plan to work with select venues to create a more extensive, in-depth series of events with each organisation. We are interested in partnering with organisations that want to build craft and/or makers into their annual programme of activity; perhaps running a series of activities throughout the year at more targeted audiences with our support.

If you are a venue and are interested in working with us in this new way. Get in touch with Allyson Gee, Project Assistant: allyson@craftscotland.org or 0131 466 3870.
