The Scottish Glass Society Exhibition 2006 at the Collins Gallery in Glasgow shows a diverse and vibrant selection of work.
The range of work includes cast, etched, engraved, slumped, fused, blown, leaded, stained and painted panels, forms and sculptural pieces by both emerging and well established glass designers and as such, provides a flavour of the calibre and developments within the field of contemporary glassmaking in Scotland.
The Scottish Glass Society was founded in 1979 and currently boasts a membership of some 180 makers, collectors, students, academics and enthusiasts.
The 39 members exhibiting are Emma Butler-Cole Aiken, Karen Akester, Brad Askew, Nina Bambrey, Emma Jane Bradley, Nichola Burns, Julie Chapman, Elizabeth H H Cull, James Denison-Pender, Junko Eager, Rachel M Elliott, Zoë Gadsby, Judith Glennie, Siobhan Healy, Season Henderson, Michael James Hunter, Elin Isaksson, Jessamy Kelly, Karen Liversedge, Tanwen Llewelyn, David Logan, Eilidh Mackenzie, Harry Mckay, Moray Miller, Martin Murray, Brodie Nairn, Mai Therese Ørsted, Verity Pulford, Stephen Richard, Alan Robinson, Carol Robinson, Charonne Ruth, Annica Sandström & David Kaplan, Allan Scott, Amanda J Simmons, Angela Steel, Val Young and Jeff Zimmer.
Most of the work is for sale and the show is supported by an illustrated catalogue.
The exhibition is on from 1 July to 12 August 2006 (closed 14 to 17 July inclusive) at the Collins Gallery, University of Strathclyde, 22 Richmond St, Glasgow tel: 0141 553 4145. Open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 12 noon to 4pm. Admission free.
