Graduate Phillipa Headley is among the 35 artists selected to take part in this year’s Scottish Glass Society annual exhibition in Glasgow.
The Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie is hosting the exhibition which includes cast, etched, engraved, slumped, fused, blown, leaded, stained and painted panels, forms and sculptural pieces.
This show embodies and celebrates the society’s policy of inclusion and the representation of its glass artists at various stages of their careers. The result is a diverse and vibrant collection of glass art, which encompasses work by new graduates, emerging and well established glass designers, providing a flavour of the calibre of contemporary glassmaking in Scotland.
Phillipa Headley, who graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2006, is inspired by South Africa, her homeland, and her pieces take a traditional African form. She uses a variety of colours which reflect the changing landscape of South Africa.
Milngavie has been home to many artists including the late Sadie McLellan, one of Scotland’s finest stained glass artists whose archives will be showcased alongside the exhibition.
The Scottish Glass Society annual exhibition is on at the Lillie Art Gallery, Station Road, Milngavie G62 8BZ tel: 0141 578 8847 from 25 August to 26 September 2007.
