Highland Open Studios 2007 takes place from 1 to 9 September when makers across the region open their studios to welcome visitors.
Taking place during Highland 2007, this year the event is bigger than ever, with 99 artists, makers, studios and galleries taking part from across the whole of the Highland region.
The event, which is a great opportunity to meet makers and buy their work, includes glass, jewellery, textiles, ceramics and wood.
One of the makers taking part is textile artist Joan Baxter who is based on Sutherland. Joan, who is also exhibiting in the craftscotland exhibition at Homes & Interiors Scotland, is inspired by the rich cultural heritage and wild beauty of the landscapes of Scotland. Her work deals with landscape, its echoes of history, its legends, its atmospheres and its moods. She enjoys working with the medium of tapestry because it enables her to push boundaries in design, technique, materials and concepts.
