Donna Barry – Precious Jewellery

After graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2001, Donna started the Diverse Gallery Workshops along with fellow graduates Sally Moore and Kaz Robertson.

She has developed a new technique which involves fusing precious metals. This allows her to gain different textures and imprints on the elements. Working with the materials and technique allows her to play with pattern and construction leading her into different directions with her designs.

She likes her jewellery to feel light and comfortable with a tactile and precious quality. Her collections include earrings, brooches, rings, bracelets and neckpieces.

She has now developed her fusing technique onto a larger scale to enable her to create dishes and silverware.

In 2002 she was awarded a free stand at the Goldsmiths’ Fair by the Goldsmiths’ Company and a bursary of £1000 for materials which is given to encourage and promote emerging young talent. In the same year she won the Goldsmiths First Prize Gold Award for a Designed/Finished piece.

She was selected to sell her work at Chelsea Crafts Fair in 2003 and 2004.
