About Me

Personal Statement

Originating from Fair Isle, Shetland, I was the youngest ever student accepted to study at the Newark School of Violin Making, at the age of 16. Three years later, in 1991, after graduating with Merit, I returned to Shetland to set up my own business: making, restoring and repairing violins, violas and 'cellos.

I make instruments in the Italian style and copy individual makers from both Italy and England. I make both exact copies and 'new' instruments.

My instruments are being played by musicians throughout Britain. These include two commissions for the Mendelssohn in Mull Trust, which supports up and coming Scottish classical string players and many of the country's finest folk musicians.

Year Established: Jul-91
