The Mission of the Scottish Glass Society is to promote the appreciation, understanding and development of contemporary Scottish Glass.
Aims:
To encourage excellence, promote and raise the profile of our members
To increase participation, interconnection and collaboration of our members and our public
To provide greater opportunities for the public to be involved in Scottish Glass
To aid Scotland-based students of glass through awards, bursaries, promotion and involvement
We achieve these aims through annual juried exhibitions, publications both physical and net-based, lectures, conferences, workshops, and residencies
The Society was established to promote the development of the art and craftsmanship of glass making and its many variations in Scotland. Our aim is to advance the public appreciation of glass making as an art form. We mount regular exhibitions and annually award prizes for student work, a masterclass award and a travel grant. We holds frequent meetings, organise lectures, demonstrations, produce publications and promote discussion.Visits to studios, museums, private and public collections and lectures by experts are carried out throughout the year. The Society publishes a quarterly newsletter which provides information about meetings, studios, lectures, exhibitions, book reviews and publications.
