Based in the South Mainland of the Shetland Islands, adjacent to Sumburgh airport where we design and produce knitwear on the premises and have around 30 outworkers from around Shetland. We cater for tourists from our local craft shop and through Mail Order brochure all year round, we are classed as being amongst the finest textile producers in the Islands for our distinctive designs and quality knitwear. We offer demonstrations of knitting and spinning and have recently returned from Japan where we had an invitation to demonstrate hand knitting.
The Shetland Lady Trademark which is issued by Shetland Islands Council guarantees that the knitwear is made in the Shetland Islands and to the highest specifications using the finest natural wool.
Shetland knitters are famous throughout the world for their traditional craft skills which have been handed down through generations and the knitwear to this day is still produced in their own cottages.
In our classic collection we include a beautiful range of natural, undyed garments, some of which are hand spun in beautiful shades from the native Shetland sheep.
As our garments are individually knitted we can provide a personal made to measure service where we can adapt styles and colours to our customers to our customers requirements.
Our range includes traditional Fair Isle garment in beautifully blended colours taken from the stunning Shetland landscape, Lace shawls which are so fine they can be pulled through a wedding ring and a lovely collection of contemporary knitwear. Styles include sweaters with crew, vee or polo necks, cardigans, slipovers, waistcoats, tunics and cropped shapes. All have co-ordinating accessories such as hats, gloves and scarves.
