The 3D/2D ethos is simple: to provide the buying public with direct access to exhibitors who are selling only their own work.
I like my work to be, for want of a better word, friendly. The reason for using silver at all is because it is a wonderful, forgiving, pliable material that I can manipulate with complete sympathy. I want the owners and users of my work to enjoy it , so it has to be direct and approachable and tactile.
Alison McConachie studied glass at Edinburgh College of Art and the Royal College of Art in London. She has been a lecturer on the Glass and Architectural Glass course at Edinburgh College of Art since 1979.
I am based on the west coast of Scotland and I make hand built and hand thrown work in different clays. The concepts and designs for my work most often come from nature or myths.
Creative Student of the Year at the Creative Fife Awards 2008, contemporary jewellery designer Angela Boag studied Jewellery Design and Silversmithing at Carnegie College, she designs and hand-makes all her jewellery from silver or gold and semi precious stones. Her pieces are unique items inspired by smooth aesthetically pleasing lines and shapes that are then created into tactile and elegant jewellery.
Angus and Mack is a small furniture making company based on the outskirts of Edinburgh specialising in bespoke fine furniture and carpentry. Our work encompasses everything from public sculpture to children's seating. We also mill and dry all our own locally sourced hardwood's.
Angus Open Studios started in 2011 and studios around the area were open from 26th - 30th May. A website and a directory were designed and 6,000 copies of the directory were distributed. 53 artists and craftsmen joined as members and more are joining for 2012.
Based in Glasgow, Anne Lindsay designs contemporary jewellery and silverware, having studied at Edinburgh College of Art and worked with some of Scotland's most respected jewellers. Inspired by unusual patterns and surface textures, Anne's prizewinning work is exhibited in galleries across the UK. Anne works in silver and gold to create individual and unusual jewellery and silverware. Apart from existing designs Anne will work to commission and can also adapt existing designs to suit individual requirements.
