Fiona's work is highly illustrative and humorous often depicting scenes of lavish interiors and revelry. She creates a wide range of hand painted interior items, constructed from wood painted in inks and watercolours before being finished with a clear or tinted glaze. Much of the inspiration comes from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and historical tapestries.
My current work is the realisation of my aim of using craft techniques to transform textiles into three-dimensional objects. My making process is intuitive, reflecting my main source of inspiration - nature, in particular plant-life. Each 'petal' element of my textiles is handcrafted and individual. They are put together in a way that is spontaneous yet designed - the pieces 'grow' and become structured and sculptural.
