My baskets are woven from locally grown grasses and leaves gathered on the Island of Yell where I live. Having been an avid collector of beach treasure all my life, I incorporate herring net floats that have washed up on Yell shores, into my baskets as bases. Each basket is unique and seems to evolve by itself as I weave. My affinity with the sea is at the heart of each basket and my favourite material is maram grass which grows by the shore.
