I make contemporary jewellery in predominately precious materials. My influences include japanese textiles and architecture and I use enamel, gemstones, paper, felt, porcelain and gold leaf to create contrasting colour.
Inspired by shape and texture, Anna focuses on the delicate detail found in leaves and flowers. Her distinctive collection of contemporary designs consists of complicated and intricate hand-created clusters, combined with delicate pattern to form beautiful and timeless pieces.
I produce handmade earthenware ceramics including functional and decorative tableware as well as ceramic jewellery with detailed leather and knot work. I experiment a lot with texture and multi layer glazing to produce interesting surface decoration. Pieces are either wheel thrown or hand built and are fired in an electric kiln. Every piece is carefully considered and individually crafted.
I work with Fibre, Using many textile techniques - weaving, netting, knotting, coiling etc, into woven tapestries, 3-D sculptural forms and small decorative baskets. I also make paper which is made into books, and combined with other natural materials and fibres to make constructed textile pieces.
I specialise in creating beautiful and unique leaded mirrors and suncatchers. My personalised mirrors are particularly popular. These make ideal birth or christening presents. Several existing styles are available and I always like to work on new designs so please get in touch if you have something extra special in mind!
Batik is an ancient craft for designing on cloth using wax as a dye-resist. With modern dyes, many unusual effects can be achieved. I like to use the traditional Indonesian batik tools - tjanting, brushes and cotton material which is produced in Java especially for the production of batik. My work is influenced by the colours and textures of the local Highland landscape and I produce wallhangings and framed pictures using a variety of batik techniques.
My work is all ceramic stoneware mostly useable items, but also decorative items. They are all reasonably priced.
My work is primarily in porcelain or paperclay used for murals and wall panels and fired to a high temperature. Colour and pattern is important using a variety of decorating methods. The feeling is contemporary, abstract. Some murals also include areas of textured relief.
Anne is a designer and maker of hand built ceramics mainly working in porcelain.
Her ceramics are a personal and permanent response to places and the moments of randomness and impermanence that take place in them; often starting with a walk and including printing and writing haiku.
She is interested in collaborations, residencies and commissions.
Anne lives in Portknockie, a small coastal village in the North East of Scotland, where she hand crafts made-to-order little artworks ranging in price from £3 to £30 (plus p+p, based on standard first class post).
