Sonia Bidwell is a spinner of local wools and makes unique wall-hangings illustrating the myths, legends and poetry of northern Europe.
Spring Fling is Scotland's premier art and craft open studios event. Each spring a selected group of professional artists and craft makers from Dumfries and Galloway throw open the doors of their studios to the public. The weekend is all about visiting studios, meeting artists and makers and seeing them work in their own environment.
Strawberry Anarchy is a shop with a story, a magical new fairy tale world to get lost in. The jewellery and sculptures all tell the tale of this enchanting place.
My small-scale sculptures are made from metal safety pins of various sizes, which are welded together to form the shape of birds, fish or insects. I make robins, wrens, barn owls, ladybirds, goldfish and more exotic species such as hummingbirds and penguins.
Oosie Felt is run by Glasgow textile artist Sue Gerber, producing exuberant handmade felt decorations, artworks and accessories.
Susan has spent many years developing her skills in several different crafts working principally with Textiles, Fibres, Beads, Wire, Paper and found objects.
Susie designs and creates unique one-off hand painted silk pieces. In addition to a large range of beautiful silk scarves she produces greetings cards, ties, wallhangings, necklaces, brooches, corsages, mounted and framed paintings and unusual silk bowls.
I create collections of hand-woven, dyed and printed textiles for contemporary interiors and clothing, as well as more conceptual installation pieces to be commissioned for display in galleries or other commercial spaces. Bespoke items are created to commemorate individual “rites of passage”, textile items to be be given at birth, death, marriage, and other personal ceremonies, weaving symbolic items, colours and imagery into hangings, cot mobiles, shawls and shrouds etc.
Textile designs with lots of colour texture, pattern and details using many techniques such as applique, crazy patchwork, quilting and collage. I love to handstitch with lovely threads and add embellishments to create my pictures and creatures for the home. I love animal imagery, texture, gorgeous bright colours and stuffing and stitching things!
