My new work takes ceramics to the edge of craft, where sculpture and function merge. My high fired stoneware bowls and vessel forms become more geological and carry with them a deep reflection of the terrain of the Hebrides. Incorporating glass and raw minerals into his work they literally embody the landscape.
The Tayberry Gallery has established itself well within the Perthshire gallery scene over the past couple of years. In March 2011 jeweller Sarah Spalding took over the running. The gallery works under the remit to exhibit original handmade art and craft pieces by established makers and emerging talent from around the UK.
The gallery houses a jewellers bench where visitors can see work being made and also commission their own bespoke jewellery.

I make decorative pieces from slate, marble and wood by engraving/carving in Celtic, Viking or Pictish designs to form plaques, Hnefatafl Boards, clocks or pet gravestones. I also carve house signs.

New and innovative work using various unique processes to produce individual decorative pieces that show the heritage of the wooden vessel in the finished ceramic form, the subtle colours and tones used at the glazing stage ensures that every finished piece is totally unique.
Thomas' furniture is inspired by the natural form and waney edges of local Scottish Timbers. Most pieces start by looking at the timber first, drawing inspiration from that and working the design around the most spectacular grain patterns and the available sizes. We make both indoor and outdoor furniture for customers with an eye for quality, design and affordability as well as having a sympathetic feel for wood.
Tolquhon Gallery is an award winning contemporary art gallery mounting a changing programme of exhibitions by artists and craftmakers from throughout Scotland and beyond. Studio glass, ceramics and wood feature strongly and there are occasional exhibitions of jewellery and textiles.
