Edinburgh Contemporary crafts has transformed an old charity shop in the heart of Tollcross into a sparkly gem; selling the fabulous work of some of Edinburgh's best designer makers and delivering a fantastic program of Craft workshops, all taught by practicing makers and experienced tutors.
My work celebrates the seductive beauty, purity and translucency of porcelain and bone china. I use these precious materials to create a range of jewellery as well as thrown functional work inspired by glimpses of natural wilderness found in urban environments. The work is tactile, individual and made to fit human hands.
Through contemporary stitched jewellery and textiles, I explore the multiple associations of objects, the process of making, and the practise of archiving.
My jewellery pieces are each unique. They suggest ceremony through symbolic forms and mysticism through simultaneously conflicting associations.
