We are a family run business which has been established for over 50 years now. As the tastes, desires and needs of customers have changed so have we! The Crafters is a retail co-operative, set up in 1998. We are a group of like-minded independent craft workers, who wanted to have a retail space in the high street that we could run ourselves.
Most of us have workshops tucked away in the country and only meet our customers - and each other - occasionally at craft fairs and local events. Joining forces has made it possible for us to have a shop to sell our wares, while at the same time being able to continue to run our workshops. We are now a thriving concern with thirteen members, supporting each other for our mutual benefit.
The Crafters offers a wide range of gifts for all occasions. From pottery, made to measure clothing, turned wood, children’s clothes, jewellery, art glass, silk and velvet scarves,hand-bags, hats, hand-made soap to prints and cards. In addition, we also have guest exhibitors throughout the year, bringing further variety, while at the same time giving an opportunity to other local craftspeople.
