My work involves a combination on specialised processes; I am combining new technologies with traditional techniques to create 3 dimensional objects of adornment. I chose the patterns in weave as the inspiration for my first collection; the hidden shapes and textures that occur in the patterns structure, offer endless design possibilities. My aim for my first collection is to transform flat patterns into 3 dimensional objects. My design process involves a combination of sketchbook work and 3d modelling. My focus at present is very much on shape and texture; this includes looking at the contrasts of rough and smooth textures. My designs are produced in gold and silver.
Aamos Designs are a unique and talented textile design company, who specialise in contemporary textiles hand woven in Shetland.
My collection of jewellery is inspired by a personal love for historical repeat pattern design, particularly floral. I reference floral architectural carvings to provide a link between two and three dimensional ornamentation. I explore aspects of the drawn line, the past and 'vintage' in my work.
My jewellery is made from carved and stained faux ivory, silver gilt, 18ct gold, antique cut semi-precious stones, beads and pearls. Prices range from £30 -£1200
As a Fine Art graduate I have developed an enthusiasm for leather as it combines beauty with utility. With its natural scarring and irregularities each product is unique and continually develops its own character with every day of use. Each item is designed and cut from high quality vegetable-tan cow hide and coloured suede, the leather is then handcarved, dyed, painted, finished with fixings and fasteners then finally handstitched or laced. I invite custom orders with particular items and ideas in mind.
