Smithy Gallery is a contemporary fine art gallery situated in the beautiful village of Blanefield.
The gallery exhibits only the best of Scottish art from distinguished and well-known artists to the talented and upcoming.
Its aim is the promotion of Scottish art within a beautiful and welcoming setting.
The work is housed in the village's beautifully restored original blacksmiths cottage. The building itself reflects the quality of the work it holds.
Smithy Gallery is proving to be an attractive draw to tourists and art lovers, coming from miles around to wander through this 200 year old building and enjoy the work of Simon Laurie, George Birrell, Charles MacQueen and many others.
The SSA is an artist-led membership organisation governed by an elected President and Council, which seeks to promote and encourage experimentation and the "adventurous spirit" in contemporary art.
I make unique handcrafted fused glass jewellery from art and Dichroic glass, using a wide range of colours, patterns and textures.
I make pendants, earrings, rings, bangles, bracelets and cufflinks. Most fittings are Sterling Silver, but bangles, bracelets, cufflinks and some rings are plated silver. Each piece is individually designed and made by me in my own studio.
Sally Sutherland is a lampworker working primarily in soft glass, who also does a little silversmithing.
Spring Fling is Scotland's premier art and craft open studios event. Each spring a selected group of professional artists and craft makers from Dumfries and Galloway throw open the doors of their studios to the public. The weekend is all about visiting studios, meeting artists and makers and seeing them work in their own environment.
Fran is a ceramicist who specialises in raku fired work and smokefired sculptural work. She also makes functional work using porcelain and stoneware fired in an electric kiln.
The design studio specialises in bespoke decorative glass, making stained glass windows, mirrors, vases and jewellery.
We supply the main coloured glasses with an emphasis on fusible. We stock a variety of tools and equipment with free demonstrations. We have a free help line for basic advice with techniques and processes. Free tutorials are offered on specific techniques, and a programme of classes and seminars. We offer these services online, by phone and in person at the shop.
