Helen Ruth is a luxury accessories label dedicated to creating beautiful yet quirky hand finished scarves.
Helena's work is inspired by absorbing and observing the ever changing light, moods and weather on the beautiful Isle of Skye where she lives.
Helena reflects on Skye’s coastal landscapes in her textile pieces which are made from hand-dyed threads and beach-combed driftwood that she has found and delicately shaped. Helena hand-colours thread to create her own subtle palette of shimmering tones, then carefully wraps them around selected pieces of driftwood to build unique panels. Each piece aims to evoke, in essence, the presence of the sea, natural rhythms, tides, shorelines and seasons which surround Helena and infuse her work. The finished pieces harmonise lustre and matte qualities. They are instinctive, restrained and precise, being drawn from the sea, both physically and imaginatively.
