Asking For Trouble is the creative pseudonym of Marceline Smith, an illustrator, writer and designer based in Glasgow, Scotland. Her work is inspired by Japanese kawaii (cute) and vintage patterns.
I create the initial and finishing couture layers to apply to both the body and site-specific interiors based around an evolving textile and paper collection. My work is innovative, labour-intensive and handcrafted combining traditional and modern techniques. I like to apply my work to a variety of end results and bridge gaps between textiles, craft, art, design, fashion and interiors. I make a lot of wallpaper lengths and wall hangings but also jewellery, accessories, cushions, blankets, quilts, etc.
