Nature is the inspiration for Amy Mackay. Building a home with love, care and exceptional skill with the materials available is a process continually undertaken by nature, for nature, all around us.
She wants to convey the beauty, intricacy and precious nature of these natural homes using precious and semi-precious materials such as silver and gold, creating both jewellery and decorative objects.
Movement, line, light and space are all important aspects which inform the work of Amy Louise Young. Capturing the fleeting, sporadic moments found during the motion of flight was the major inspiration behind her current collection.
Using techniques such as forging, stone setting and other jewellery making skills, she combines silver with non-precious materials such as resin and polypropylene, making the pieces not only unique but fun to wear.
Amy Lowson of Greentree Crafts creates jewellery from her workspace in Edinburgh.
Lowson takes inspiration from natural shapes and personal stories, experimenting in metal including copper and silver and using patina to create different colours and finishing with gemstones to complete each unique piece of jewellery. Lowson's current activity focuses on silversmithing.
My work aspires to elevate value in materials and techniques. Focus for work is driven between pattern and material explorations. I believe there are no boundaries in jewellery, no more the 'must haves' of precious metals and jewels.
