Hand-me-down Helen creates one of a kind hand crafted pieces. Each item is inspired by antique design or incorporates a vintage element.
She works with vintage and found items, mixed metals - including sterling silver, copper and brass - and acrylic plastics to make functional, wearable and above all unique pieces.
Taking cues from Victorian sentimentality, a childhood fascination with concealment, and 18th & 19th century furniture, my work creates opportunity for personal narratives to blossom. It is the small details that make jewellery exceptional and so my work is carefully considered and constructed, striving to deliver beautiful miniature pieces of ornamentation for the body.
A graduate of The Royal College of Art (2004), and Glasgow School of Art (2000), Hannah has exhibited her jewellery internationally. The skills Hannah employs in making her jewellery are rooted in traditional fabrication techniques and quality workmanship, focusing specifically on intricate hand-piercing and cut-outs. The investment of her time and skill into the pieces is paramount to their beauty and desirability.
Venerable Beads of Edinburgh, are designers and makers of fine, contemporary jewellery, to suit ever pocket, made from semi-precious stones (such as amethyst, lapis lazuli, turquoise), quality glass beads in vibrant and subtle colours, and freshwater pearls - or a combination of some or all of these.
I studied jewellery in Glasgow, Toronto and then graduated from Dundee with an Hons Degree in Jewellery and Metalwork. I make contemporary jewellery in gold and silver and a combination of both. Many of the pieces are one-offs or a few similar pieces made at the same time. I want to keep the pieces unique and the owner happy to have something different) Texture is predominant in my work contrasted with smooth, polished surfaces. Inspiration comes from Africa and the Scottish Highlands. I have my own small Gallery overlooking Inverness Castle, off Castle Street (one flight up Raining's Stairs) adjacent to my studio.
Contemporary, intriguing jewellery with eco-friendly credentials.
Situated in the Loch Lomond National Park, where the wonderful unspoilt natural world around me inspires most of my work, caring for the environment is a way of life.
I aim to create eye-catching yet wearable pieces. Most are made from recycled silver, often incorporating textiles, pearls or gemstones.
I make earrings, neck, wrist and finger jewellery, cufflinks and scarf slides.
The opportunity to adapt existing designs to suit your requirements, and to create truly bespoke commissions is always welcomed.
I also create inexpensive bright, colourful earrings and brooches from bio-degradable plastic.
Local, unique, affordable handmade crafts and jewellery.
I make jewellery, with genuine pearl, sterling silver and venetian glass beads, all my work is original and made with great care.
