Fiona Allardyce-Lewis - Wood

Fiona, who is a graduate of Glasgow School of Art, decorates her work, which is constructed from wood, with a variety of media including inks and watercolours before finishing with a clear or tinted glaze.

The main inspiration for her work is historic imagery such as medieval tapestries and Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.  In her highly illustrative and humorous illustrations she often depicts scenes of lavish interiors and revelry.

Her commissioned work contains personal elements specific to the commissioner, for example, a candlestick commissioned for presentation to HRH The Prince of Wales depicted caricatures of both the Prince and his Private Secretary playing musical instruments of their choice.

Other commissions have included a Canterbury Tales chair for Dr Miriam Stoppard and a mirror depicting Drake defeating the Armada at La Coruna in Spain for author Frederick Forsyth.

Her work is sold in galleries across the UK and she has been selected to sell her work at the first Origin: the London Craft Fair in October 2006.
