HI-Arts Award Scheme for Makers in the Highlands and Islands
HI-Arts, the arts development agency for the Highlands and Islands, launched a new award scheme in July 2004 for individual craftworkers and makers. This new scheme has an annual budget of £6,000 jointly funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the Scottish Arts Council. Individuals can apply for grants of up to £500 each to help them to develop their professional or creative practices. This scheme does not replace existing SAC schemes, but does ensure that guaranteed funds are available for those based in the Highlands and Islands. The application process is very simple and guidelines and application forms are available from the HI-Arts website at www.hi-arts.co.uk or, in printed form, by calling 01463 717091. Applications are considered on a rolling basis, although they should be received at least four weeks before the start of the activity for which the funds are required.
Edinburgh Visual Arts and Crafts Awards Scheme (EVAAC)
In order to advance the City of Edinburgh Council Cultural Policy, the Scottish Arts Council and the City of Edinburgh Culture & Leisure Department have established a scheme of funding that addresses current gaps in resources available to individual artists and makers. Now in the fifth successful year of the scheme, it offers awards to individual artists based or resident in Edinburgh towards costs involved in creating new work or developing current work. Awards up to a maximum value of £500 are available.
There are two deadlines for applications each year - the end of January and the end of August. For specific dates, more information or to request an application package, please contact Tracy Scodellaro at the Arts Development Unit, City of Edinburgh Council on 0131 243 1440 or by email at: tracy.scodellaro@btconnect.com
